Shine On Music’s 4th Annual Benefit Concert
On Saturday September 9th, Shine On Music hosted its 4th Annual Benefit Concert! Four years ago, we launched this event to raise funds for the purchase of instruments for the students in our teaching programs.
This year, the concert was held in the beautiful St. Helen’s Anglican Church in Kitsilano, and we had an amazing turnout! The crowd was full of UBC students and faculty, students and families from our teaching programs, residents from around the community, and members from our partner organizations such as Muzewest concerts, Music Friends, UBC Music Initiative, and Instruments Beyond Borders.
Many talented musicians performed at the concert, with a wonderful variety of instruments and genres of music being performed. From students in our program at Queen Alexandra Elementary playing the violin, to local musicians playing original pieces on the guitar or even saxophone. President of UBC, Santa J. Ono also came to give support by a performance on the Cello!
All in all, the event went great, we managed to meet our goals of fundraising for the year to put towards continuing our programs at Queen Alexandra, Musqueam, and UBC! Thanks again to all of those who came out to support our cause. We can’t wait for next year!
Lastly, a huge thank you to all our sponsors this year! We couldn’t have done it without you!
